Everything was pretty normal right before the pandemic hit Japan in March of 2020. Sakura were blooming, streets were bustling, and no one could imagine what would happen to the country soon.

I stopped by Sophia University as I was heading to Shinjuku as I came here for a Japanese Language course during my college days. the School was already empty due to Covid precautions. I found a little bit of home in the 7-11 with the Hawaiian Sun drinks.

I walked around the Shibuya area to meet up with my hanai aunty and uncle, Sachi and Eiji. They stayed at the bed and breakfast I run in Oahu a couple years ago and they wanted to take me to see the Japan National Stadium where the Olympics was supposed to be held in 2020, but eventually was postponed a year due to Covid.

I also found these strange sex related items in the Shinuku Don Quijote. I'll probably cover strange sex related things in another blog post.

Totoro is hanging around everywhere throughout Japan.

Japan National Stadium (国立競技場)

Online it says that the stadium was finished being built in 2019 (taking only 3 years to build), but they were still working on building the subway station connecting to the stadium as well as some other infrastructure around the stadium. In Oahu, where I was born and raised, we have. a traffic light in my neighborhood that they took around 3 years to build as well... Japan builds things fast, with precision and durability.

We got breakfast at a cool little cafe in a tall building after checking out the stadium.

After they dropped me off I then went to check out the swan boats you can ride at Inokashira park in Kichijoji! I went with a Japanese friend of mine named Mami whom I met in Hawaii through my Aunty.

Inokashira Park (井の頭恩賜公園)

The park is really beautiful and easy to get to from Kichijoji station. Theres a nice walk you can do around it, and the swan boats are so beautiful with the cherry blossoms hanging over the river.

It's a really popular place to check out for Japanese people as well! And after you finish riding the boat you can make your way into the Kichijoji area for a nice cafe or restaurant.

Thank you again for checking out my page!
