Asakusa! It's got the traditional feeling of Japan, but still feels hip and modern. It feels like a year round festival on the streets here, and of course I celebrated with some sugar dipped strawberries. My senses were tingling afterwards.

Asakusa (浅草)

In Asakusa you can see many traditional elements of Japan such as the Rickshaw and Japanese/foreigners dressed in Kimono/Yukata. It's all for the instagram baby.

I met my friend Shuuichi here at a restaurant by my apartment the night before. He was so kind to show me around his home neighborhood of Asakusa!! First we said hello to Hedwig before making our way to the Sake bar.

This particular sake bar is off the mains streets of the Nakamise Shopping street, and there are other sake bars to try as well

It's a standing sake bar, so put simply you stand while drinking sake. Just try any of the various sake's they offer from all the regions of Japan! I can't remember the name of this food dish, but if I do I'll update it here.

After Sake it was time for one last night time experience in Tokyo, and likely for a while as Covid lockdowns hit Japan shortly after I left. I walked the streets of Shibuya and Shinjuku and saw wondrous sights and many lights.

Nightlife in Japan has an innocent and a dark side... There are cute cafes and restaurants adorning every street in Shibuya and Shinjuku, but just on the other block of these well lit shopping areas are many Kyabakuras and Snack bars. I'll have a post more about these another time.

It's been great in Tokyo and I am so glad to have met so many great friends up after LMU college days and made a few along the way. Until next time Tokyo!
