Cat Cafe Temari no Ouchi! It was one of my top places to visit when I first arrived in Tokyo. I take care of 8 to 10 cats at a time at my house, but I still couldn't get enough of them. At one time in my life I was thinking of starting a cat cafe and was definitely drawing on the inspiration that created this one.

The cat cafe is run by Temari, one of the cats residing in the cafe. All the cats live a peaceful and happy life in the magical cat forest.

The easiest way to get to the cafe is to take the subway to Kichijoji station. From there it's a short 5 minute walk to the cafe! Kichijoji has plenty of nice shopping boutiques, restaurants, and even the Ghibli Museum which I didn't know at the time! It was my favorite area in Tokyo I would say. The outside of the cafe is hard to miss as you can see above.
The Interior Design is Catastic and Feline friendly! I was transported to another world when I entered Temari's House... and it felt great.
The Japanese have the word 異世界 (Isekai) which means a different or other world. A lot of Japanese anime and even many real Japanese places try to capture this feeling of transporting you to another place and time. They've definitely mastered this art.
The cats have so many nice hiding holes and places to chill. Even the litter box (the picture in the bottom right corner) is so nicely hidden and private for the cats.

The food and drink prep area is closed off from the cat's area so the cat hair doesn't get mixed up in it too much.

I ordered the green tea latte with soy milk. I drank the thumb sized cup in one gulp, and wanted more, but I decided to save my money for other cafe green tea lattes. They make the food and drinks separately so no need to worry about a hairball in your drink or food; although at my house I'm used to coughing up a hairball or two throughout the year while taking care of anywhere between 8 to 10 cats.
Isn't the cup so friggin cute... I actually kept it as a souvenir for a few months until I realized this was a hoarding and cat lady trait.
The cats seemed really round and happy here. There actually were not many cat fights during my time there. Most people coming here were groups of young girls and couples, but don't have any shame and you will enjoy life more right!
Every day and (every couple hours judging by these well-fed cats) they have a little feeding show where they talk about the cats' different characteristics. Everyone bought cat treats after watching, and then no cats came to me anymore... Definitely buy the cat treats if you want to be loved.

The couple in the top left was kind enough to let me capture this special kitty cat moment, I was meowy grateful.
After the cat cafe I headed to the local Kichijoji arcade. There are a few in the Kichijoji area and I would learn later that most Japanese neighborhoods in major cities like Tokyo, Sapporo, Osaka, etc. have them. I met this guy who was very kind to let me film and take a pic of him totally wrecking this game called Maimai, a video game staple in any arcade. The game is based on rhythm and tapping with your hands. I tried playing once and immediately knew how many hours... days... years he has put into perfecting this craft.
