Okinawa | Vegan Food! Ukishima Garden and Other Vegan Treats

Updated: Sep 18, 2022

Date I went: 03/24/2020

I only checked out one real vegan place in Okinawa, I know what was I thinking lol But definitely a spot worth checking out. It's called Ukishima Garden and it's 100% nothing held back vegan.

Ukishima Garden (浮島ガーデン)

A few interior decor items I thought were interesting.

I ordered the pre set meal, which included a small salad, gyoza, eggplant, their house made vegan cheese, a vegan donburi type dish, their house made vegan croquette, and house made vegan fish. For dessert (pictured below) I got to try their house made soy milk soft serve with their house made cake.

The flavors they infuse into each dish were wonderful and rocked my body. It was not a cheap meal (in fact it was the most expensive meal I had during my stay in Okinawa), but the flavor is worth every yen you pay. They even run down the list of ingredients in each individual item on the dish showing how much attention to detail they put into crafting the meal.

For vegan and non-vegan alike it is a must go restaurant n Okinawa! You will feel refreshed and replenished as well as completely satisfied after eating the food here; also the flower is edible too.

Ukishima Garden is pretty much located in the heart of Naha so no excuses not too check em out!

BAR Owl (バーアウル)

I had this nice big vegan watermelon mixed drink at Bar Owl after dinner, which definitely hit the spot.

I found this vegan sushi in the Chattan area at this random cafe by the ocean front. Can't remember the name of it or find it on the map. But it was nice finding a vegan option even at a non-vegan restaurant in Okinawa.

I think one of the most popular food items Okinawa is known for is the Okinawan Sweet Potato. Although these desserts were not vegan I wanted to highlight how many sweet potato flavored things you can find in Okinawa. The purple color of the sweets is quite alluring and can be found gleaming in the windows of many shops in Naha.
